Dana Bourgerie is an Associate Professor of Chinese . He earned his Ph.D in East Asian Languages, linguistics focus, in 1991 from The Ohio State University. He also taught one year at his Alma Mater before arriving at BYU. His research interests are in language variation, sociolinguistics, dialect studies (especially Yue), and language acquisition. His also is doing research on Chinese classifier systems. Professor Bourgerie is currently serving as the director of the Chinese Flagship Program at BYU.
