Minor in Chinese (19–36 hours*)

Program Requirements

1. Complete the following prerequisite courses (or equivalents):
   CHIN 101 : Beginning Mandarin.
   CHIN 102 : Beginning Mandarin.
   CHIN 201 : Intermediate Mandarin.
   CHIN 202 : Intermediate Mandarin.
2. Complete the following:
   CHIN 301 : Third-Year Mandarin
   CHIN 302 : Third-Year Mandarin
   CHIN 345R : Chinese Culture.
3. Complete one course from the following:
   CHIN 321 : Selected Readings of Modern Chinese.
   CHIN 322 : Selected Readings of Modern Chinese.
4. Complete one course from the following:
   CHIN 343 : Chinese Literature in Translation--Poetry.
   CHIN 344 : Chinese Literature in Translation--Prose.
5. Complete one additional class above 301.

*Hours include courses that may fulfill university core requirements.

Repeat Policy Statements: A student should not repeat a course after they have taken a more advanced course for which the course in question is a prerequisite (e.g., repeating 201 after taking 301 or 302). Students should retake a course as soon as possible after first taking it. A student should not enroll in a course if she or he has already taken and passed a more advanced course for which the course in questions is a prerequisite (e.g., enrolling in Chinese 101 after taking and passing Chinese 201 or 302).
